Bloggers

From left: Jodie, knitting sprouts, me, Jo, Donna, Annie, Daisychain
Here is a pic - thanks to Jodi - of some of the bloggers that met up at the Stitches & Craft show in Sydney.
If you visit these ladies blogs you will see more great photos of the show.

Leaving on a jet plane....

No, not me, unfortunately!!
Last Tuesday I took my parents to the airport where they are off to Singapore for a week then on to the UK for about 5 weeks.
They flew to Singapore with their friends whose daughter lives in Singapore, just co-incidence that they all ended up going at the same time!
Please excuse my shocking photos - they were taken on my phone and I just can't get the settings right for indoor shots!
I found this cool place at the back of the airport where all the plane spotters go, so I sat and watched all the planes and waited for them to take off.
As I was in this part of the city, I just had to make a trip to The Remnant Warehouse at Alexandria. They used to be in Marrickville but have moved to Alexandria, nice big shop but absolutely shocking for parking!! Will not be going there again in a hurry unfortunately. Their prices were also not much cheaper than other patchwork shops but I did get some remnants for a great price and a cute Melly & Me pattern that I hadn't seen before.

Stitches & Craft Fair

Last Saturday Jo and I headed out to the Stitches & Craft fair here in Sydney. I haven't been going to many of these shows in the last few years but couldn't pass up an opportunity to meet up with Chookyblue who was coming to the "big smoke"!!
What a great day we had!! Chooky ( who needs to be renamed the social butterfly LOL) knew a heap of other bloggers there so we got to meet lots of very talented crafters.
Chooky was helping out her friend tuttifruiti who had a stand there with some gorgeous homemade items.
We also got to meet Jodi - ricrac - who was giving a talk on setting up a craft blog. She had her friend Annie with her and we also met up with daisychain.
Thank you ladies for a fantastic fun day out - I don't think I have laughed so much at a craft fair!!!!
Who knows what people were thinking about this loud bunch of women!! Must have been interesting as some ladies were filming us - but that is a whole other story !!!

Someone took a pic of us all together but not sure whose camera it was - so will have to wait until someone else posts it on their blog/

I do have a pic of what I bought, the show itself wasn't that great other than the 4th floor which was where all the bloggers were and all the upcoming new designers. It was a lovely fresh perspective on crafting.
I got a couple of meters of linen, as you know from my last post, I haven't been able to source it here. But I got some from this lady.
Got the bag rings from too - yayyy - from nicolemdesign.com.au
A gorgeous elephant softie pattern and linen bag kit from Audrey & Maude
Lovely FQ's from Hobbysew, they had a special if you bought 6 you only paid for 5.
More craft hangers, and some preprinted stitcheries from Giggle Buttons.
There were a couple of other things but they are for secret gifties!!

When Jodie (ricrac) did her blog talk she gave out little gift bags to everyone with some handy hits for blogging and a free kit of hers - thank you Jodie that was very generous of you.

So all in all a lovely day!!
Will post the group pic when I get it.

A Question...

Does anyone out there in blogland know where I can get natural linen from??

And another one...

Can anyone tell me where to get the rings (silver or other) that you often see on the handles of the bags people make??

I'm sure at least one of you, who sew a lot more than me, will know the answers to these profound questions!!!

TIA

Anita

Dad's 70th

My dad turns 70 on Tuesday so yesterday all the family got together for afternoon tea and went out to dinner. We only have a small family but it is not often we are all together.
We had a lovely afternoon and had a birthday cake for dad and sat out and enjoyed the sunshine in our beautiful weather we have been having here in Sydney.

In the evening we went out to dinner at Amicis - a lovely Italian restaurant.

We all had a great night together!

Dad - hope you enjoyed your birthday!!!

Glorious Winter Day!!

We have been having some glorious Sydney winter weather lately. Still cool, but most days are lovely and sunny.
Last Saturday we went out with my parents to this great place on the Parramatta river. It is called the Armoury cafe and it is on the site of an old armoury. They have developed a lot of the grounds in to parkland with lots of bike and walking tracks. There were heaps of people out enjoying the sunshine.
My mum has been very sick with the flu and this was her first day out for 3 weeks. Was a great chance to catch up and enjoy the sunshine. And the delicious food of course hehe

Sorry, no sewing pics, only thing I have been sewing is my caravan curtains - very boring!
