Another High Tea!

Yesterday I headed into the city to the Art Gallery

I wasn't there to see the art, I was there for this.....

High Tea was delicious.....

Nice views...

It was my woRk's end of year get together. Good chance to catch up with staff that work in some of our other offices. I work in our head office but we have 7 other clinics that run around Sydney, so this is the only time all the doctors, nurses and secretaries all get together.

The Art Gallery is a beautiful building, I have to confess that I don't think I have ever been there, will have to go back for a better look I think.

Love my new sign I got from a local gift store....

Food Society - High Tea

Craig and I went to a High Tea with a difference recently at a restaurant in the city called The Food Society.

This was  a bit of a twist on a traditional High Tea, instead of finger sandwiches and lots of sweets it was more of a degustation of hand made savoury and sweet canapes. The tea could also be swapped for Vodka cocktails or Vodka sippers.
Vodka cocktails are a feature of this Eastern European style restaurant.

The Food Society is an Eastern bloc bar and restaurant and is based on modern food choices from Eastern European countries. They do have a seasonal dinner menu which looks delicious!!

The restaurant is very eclectic with lots of vintage knick knacks

This was the reception area when you first come in the door!

Table setting complete with doily lol

Very rustic interior...

First there was a homemade tomato soup

Next there was a Celerica tart, Crostini with trout tartare and Ricotta & Parmesan balls - all very delicious!

A roll with pulled chicken & aioli, Croque monsier and a very delicous Quinoa Salad

Then for the sweets....

Lemon Meringue Tarts, Peanut butter Chocolate cups and a Vanilla desert with raspberry jelly. All very nice! The only thing we didn't like was that the menu said the chocolate cups had coconut in them, but they had peanut butter. We are not lovers of peanut butter in things but aside from that, I hope no one with a peanut allergy ate them unsuspectingly!

We really enjoyed the whole experience, a bit different to what we are used to at a High Tea but great for people who like more savouries than sweets. It was very substantial and was enough for us for lunch.
The wait staff were very efficient and friendly and explained what was on the platter each time they brought one out.

We enjoyed the sight when we came outside afterward to this line up of bikes, a great form of transport for this part of the city!

Gledswood

We have lived in this area for 25 years and a couple of months ago visited Gledswood Homestead for the first time! We discovered they had a cafe there so took ourselves up their for lunch one gorgeous sunny Saturday. The food was delicious but we were taken in by the gorgeous green lawns and the quaint original buildings.

Inside the wine cellar. They used to have their own vineyard but now they have grapes grown somewhere else and bottled with their own label.

 Part of the original homestead...

Stay tuned for another post of a another visit to this hidden gem.

A Bit more painting

So the next orange bedroom has received a makeover! When Trainer Tim was asked what colour he wanted he said the same as the old house.....same colour he has had for 10 years! Well we managed to refine the choice and this is the result.
When it was going on I didn't like it, but now it is all done and he has his furnishings in, I love it! And so does he!!

No posts!!

So Blogger and I haven't been getting along too well lately! I have quite a few posts piled up ready to publish but not having much success.
So I haven't dropped off the face of the earth lol, just having a technical intermission!!
Be back soon!

Lots to tell!

Has been a lot going on here, so have a few blog posts coming up.
First on the agenda is the quilt retreat
Yes back at The Cottage On The Hill at Nundle.

Unfortunately I didn't take many photos but if you go to some of the other girls blogs they were better photo takers than me!
But I did take a pic of the quilt that I was going to make, in more 'me' colours, and a pic of some of my progress with the Dresden plates
It was very cold overnight in Nundle with lots of ice one morning....even on the inside of the headlight protectors!

Show and tell of the quilt top I finished just before retreat

Dinner with friends

The quilters!!
Backrow - Jenny, Robyn, Trish, Lea, Bronwyn
Front row - Chooky, Me, Jules & Ronnie
And one more pic of the peaceful outlook from the cabins
It is amazing how a bunch of people can get on so well when they only get to see each other once a year, or even meet for the first time.
Thank you too all these beautiful girls for a great weekend!! Bring on next year!!
