Yesterday was Australia Day here in Oz!
We had our annual Australia Day Picnic down by the water. Was a warm day but not as scorching hot as it usually is. We also had a bit of cloud cover most of the day so that was welcome relief. Some people did manage to get a bit of sunburn still though LOL

A Day on the Harbour

Last Friday I went with my mum & Aunty ( visiting from UK) into the city and we took a ferry ride to beatiful Watsons Bay. We had a walk around the bay and yummy lunch of fish & chips. It was quite a warm day but nice on the harbour. Unfortunately we had to go home to the heat of the suburbs!

Goodies in the Post

Today I picked up this box from the Post office...

Before Christmas The Fat Quarter Shop had daily specials for December and they had some great buys on Layer Cakes, Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs and yardage. They kindly let me have my order posted all together at the end of the sale. So I was so excited when it arrived today! Great prices - costs less than half of what it would cost me to buy here.

Here is my hoard, the colours are not that great as I took the pic on my phone at work. I had to take it to work with me and open it there otherwise I would have had to wait until I got home!!

Now if I was to make New Years Resolutions I would resolve that I will use more fabric than I buy!! well that is the theory for now, but of course Jo and I are going to Bathurst next week to visit Anni Downs shop, and meet up with Chookyblue and she has some great stuff there.....and then there is Nundle in March....oh well it was a good resolution to dream about LOL

So it has been back to work this week so I started sewing as well!! We are going to a 21st party tonight and on Tuesday I was wondering around the shops trying to figure out what to buy the birthday girl. After having no luck I decided that I would make her a cushion to put on her bed. So Wednesday I called her mum to ask what colours she has in her bedroom and that night went through my stash to see if I had something suitable, of course I did LOL

So I cut it out thursday night, sewed it up last night, made an insert for it this morning - all ready for the party tonight!!

Now I just hope she likes it!

My break

I have been trying to do this post for a week but haven't been able to get into my page!!

But all seems ok now.

Had a great 2 weeks break from the job, nice and relaxing. Didn't do any sewing, the only crafting I did was these 2 boxes. I bought Craig some Tshirts from Colorado for Christmas and they came rolled up in these triangular boxes.

So I covered them and embellished them with scrapbooking paper and bits & pieces. I had fun doing this, was nice to do something other than sewing for a change.
