Singapore

We landed in Singapore about 2pm so we had a bit of time to squeeze in some sightseeing that night. 

So we headed to our hotel, Hotel Royal @ Queens. Nice place, adequate for what we needed and not a bad location.

We headed out on foot a block or two down the road to Raffles - what a beautiful place! Unfortunately I didn't get a pic of the front as I didn't realise it was around the corner!

 We kept walking towards the Singapore Flyer. It was a bit further than we thought but we could see it in the distance and just kept heading that direction! But on the way we did get to walk through a few shopping malls.

We then headed over to Marina Bay Sands for a quick look at the bay and the shops underneath

Then onto the Gardens by the Bay. It was getting dark by this time but we managed to squeeze in a quick look at the Cloud Dome - amazing!

We then hopped into a taxi to our last stop for the night - Satay Street. They close this street off at 7pm and all the street vendors come out with their satay cookers - what a fun thing to do - and delicious satay!!

Whew - what a day! Back to the hotel for a much needed sleep!

Apologies

Ok, so that last post was done when we were already on our trip! I had planned on blogging while away but it was just too slow and painful on ipad apps! I lost a couple of posts I had in drafts so I gave up. 

At the end of the day I was too tired to use something so slow. 

So, back home now, and will put some posts together. 

Much easier on a computer!!

The Big Day

About 2 years ago we decided to try to save enough money to do a trip to UK AND France. I have relatives in the UK who also live in France for the summer and we had always dreamed of visiting them in France. A year ago I was offered a promotion at work which enabled the dream to become a reality! So here we are today heading off on our big adventure! 

Here is the view from our hotel at the airport...we are staying here ready for an early morning flight.

No pictures of me that morning as I was in the bathroom being sick! Sorry for the details lol but I came down with severe nausea and thought I was not going to be able to get on the plane. Thanks to the pharmacy I was able to get some tablets which made me feel much better....phew!

We flew with Singapore airlines and they were fantastic.

Sewing Retreat

Last weekend I got to go away for the weekend with my sewing buddies. We found a great near Nowra, very quiet and picturesque location.

 

I sewed a couple of zipper purses....not bad for my first attempt at zippers!

 I also made a start on this table runner for an overseas friend...

I made a start on a few other things but no finishes.....or photos!

There was also a bit of shopping involved....

And of course some delicious food!

secret sewing

For the last few months mum and I have been working on a quilt for my Aunty for a big 0 birthday.  We were in a yarn shop in Bowral and discovered it was a patchwork shop as well. I saw this range of fabric by French General, which most of you know is my favourite, and I thought immediately of my Aunty who loves blues. So we decided to make her.a quilt for her birthday. My Aunty lives in the UK but also lives in France for the summer....so I knew the range Le Bouquet Francais was perfect!!

Fortunately my parents were travelling to the UK for her birthday so we're able to deliver it in person.
