I made this little fabric box for my mum for Mother's Day. It was one of the projects from the Nundle retreat, designed by Anni Downs of Hatched & Patched.
Love the design and the fabric but have not sewn circles before and have decided I won't be rushing in to sew too many more circles , or small things for a while!!

More Than a Mother

When God set the world in place,
when He hung the stars up in space,
when He made the land and the sea,
then He made you and me.

He sat back and saw all that was good,
He saw things to be as they should.
Just one more blessing He had in store;
He created a mother, but whatever for?

He knew a mother would have a special place
to shine His reflection on her child's face.
A mother will walk the extra mile
just to see her children smile.
She'll work her fingers to the bone
to make a house into a home.

A mother is there to teach and guide,
a mother will stay right by your side.
She'll be there through your pain and strife,
she'll stay constant in your life.

A mother will lend a helping hand
until you have the strength to stand.
She'll pick you up when you are down,
when you need a friend she'll stick around.

A mother is one who listens well,
will keep her word; will never tell.

A mother never pokes or pries
but stands quietly by your side,
giving you the strength you need,
encouraging you to succeed.

A mother is one who can be strong
when you need someone to lean on.

You're more than a mother to me;
a reflection of Him in your face I see,
a love that knows no boundaries.

I'm glad that you chose to be
all this and more to me.
You share a love that knows no end,
you're more than my mother,
you are my friend.

I'm baaack!!

Well it has been 3 weeks since my surgery, and the shoulder is healing well. Still sore but not too bad and getting back the full range of movement is the main priority. So have been doing lots of physio to get it back to where it should be.

Thank you all for your lovely emails, cards & text messages - they were greatly appreciated.

I have managed to get back into doing a little bit of hand stitching and have finished this stitchery from the retreat in Nundle. It will be used on the lid of a fabric box, when I get around to making that!
We have had faster internet installed today and gee I didn't realise how slow the old one was!! I can view blogs now and doesn't take me two days to sign into blogger LOL

Girl's Day In The Country 2010

Well, where do I start!!

Last Friday I headed off to Nundle (country NSW) for the annual Girl's Day In The Country. It was great to catch up with old friends from previous years and make new friends.

Here are the lovely hosts for the weekend - Anni Downs from Hatched & Patched and Kerry from Cottage on the Hill.

This is a pic of the hall with everyone arriving with great excitement and checking out their goody bags to see what the projects are.

The tables were beautifully decorated with lovely fresh flowers and yummy cupcakes for morning tea.

We received kits for 3 projects, all designed by Anni. There was a cute little jewellry box with a stitchery on the top, a pincushion made from wool and a sewing compendium made from wool also.

I have never worked with wool before but love the look of it, so it was great to do something new. The pincushion was all done by hand so we could finish a project on the day - which was great. And YES, I did get it finished!! The photo below is the display one, I haven't taken a pic of mine yet.

Lots of busy stitching happening!!

Anni & Kerry's show and tell.

There's no money in there Chooky!!!:

Lots of photo taking!!

As well as lots of shopping!!

The cool girls from cabin 6!!:

Tooth Fairy(blog to come!!), Chookyblue, Me, Cardygirl & Bronwyn no blog.

And of course we had to have our annual bloggers group photo!!

Relaxing in Cabin 6. The cabins we stay in are just lovely and very comfortable - even the lounge as I discovered LOL

Breakfast before leaving - all a bit weary but fuelling up for the long drive home.

And so it is all over again for another year. Shame it is only once a year!!!

Thank you girls for another great weekend and thank you Kerry & Anni for all your hard work - can't wait until next year!!

Anita

Lots of fabric!!

Finally I get to show pics of all the gorgeous fabric I received for my birthday.

The first2 pics are the FQ's from the Nundle Bloggers FQ Birthday swap. all lovely and I am happy with all of the fabrics I received.

Next up is the linen I treated myself to from Etsy. A wonderful seller from South Korea, just lovely.

And last, but definitely not least, is the fabric from our yahoo group C-R-A-F-T. Instead of sending each person 2 FQ's we put in the same value in $$ and the birthday girl then gets to spend that money in a store of their choice. I bought the fabric below from The Fat Quarter Shop. I mostly bought Rouenneries French General fabric for a quilt I want to make, plus a few extras that I liked!

Well I am going to be very busy using all this up LOL. And with only 1 sewing day a fortnight (that often gets sabotaged!!) it is going to take me a while LOL

Hugs
Anita
